This group gathers the diplomatic correspondence and secret agreements of the Cold War era, 1946 to 1989. These are the diplomatic telegrams, notes, memoranda and secret agreements through which governments dealt with one another, often unseen by the public at the time. A document belongs here when its cited article gives a date inside this span for the document's own signing, adoption, issue or composition. It excludes documents dated earlier or later, which sit in the neighboring period groups of the same kind. The years 1946 to 1989 cover the Cold War, decolonization and the rise of the United Nations and of regional organizations.
