This group gathers the peace treaties and territorial settlements of antiquity and the early Middle Ages, before the year 1000. These are the treaties, armistices and settlements that ended wars, redrew frontiers or transferred territory. A document belongs here when its cited article gives a date inside this span for the document's own signing, adoption, issue or composition. It excludes documents dated earlier or later, which sit in the neighboring period groups of the same kind. Antiquity and the early Middle Ages run from the earliest written records to the year 999, a span of pharaohs, Mesopotamian kings, Greek and Roman law and the first Christian emperors.
