The Cacicazgo of Magua was one of the five Taino chiefdoms of the island of Hispaniola, occupying the island's northeast and bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the north and east, the cacicazgos of Maguana and Higuey to the south, and the cacicazgos of Marien and Maguana to the west, with all of its territory in what is now the Dominican Republic. Ruled by the cacique Guarionex from a seat near Santo Cerro in La Vega, it was divided into 21 nitainos and was described as one of the richest of the island's chiefdoms. The Ciguayo people of the Samana Peninsula, who spoke a distinct Ciguayo language, were absorbed into Magua as a culturally separate population, though their language had become extinct by 1527.
