The Kingdom of Baol, also spelled Bawol, was a Wolof state in what is now central Senegal, founded in the eleventh century and ruled from its capital at Lambaye by a monarch bearing the title of Teigne. It remained a vassal of the Jolof Empire until it became independent in the mid-sixteenth century, alongside the other Wolof kingdoms that broke away as Jolof's unified authority collapsed. Baol's territory stretched inland from the Atlantic coast and included the towns of Touba, Diourbel and Mbacke, with Cayor bordering it to the north and the Kingdom of Sine to the south.
