Mongol and Central Asian Khans

Khans and other rulers of the Mongol Empire and the wider Central Asian steppe, including Genghis Khan's immediate successors Ogedei Khan and Mongke Khan, Hulagu Khan, founder of the Ilkhanate in Persia, Kublai Khan, founder of the Yuan dynasty and Great Khan of the united Mongol Empire, Toregene Khatun and Borte, who each held real regency or consort power within the Mongol imperial family, Ahmad Shah Durrani, founder of the Durrani Empire centered on Afghanistan, and Tomyris, the sixth century BC queen of the nomadic Massagetae who defeated Cyrus the Great, grouped here with the later Mongol and Turkic steppe rulers as this atlas's set of Central Asian nomadic sovereigns despite predating the Mongol Empire itself by many centuries.
