South and Southeast Asian Rulers

Rulers of the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia, spanning the ancient Maurya and Gupta empires of India, the Delhi Sultanate and Mughal Empire, regional Indian powers such as the Maratha Empire under Shivaji and the kingdoms of Mysore, Chittor and Gondwana, and the Southeast Asian civilizations of the Khmer empire at Angkor, the Sukhothai and Thonburi kingdoms of what is now Thailand, the Vietnamese Trung sisters' rebellion, the Javanese Majapahit empire, and the Sultanate of Aceh in Sumatra. The group is defined by the ruler's own realm sitting within South or Southeast Asia, including Islamic era South and Southeast Asian dynasties such as the Mughals and the Delhi and Aceh sultanates, which are grouped here by region rather than with the separate Middle Eastern and Islamic World Rulers group because their own history, language and successor states belong to South and Southeast Asia.
