Every individual this atlas describes as having acted on the historical stage: monarchs, statesmen, generals, religious leaders, explorers, philosophers, revolutionaries, reformers, writers, business figures, patrons, sports pioneers and resistance leaders, grouped into thirteen role bands by what a figure is chiefly remembered for. This category excludes a figure's own doctrinal, scientific, artistic or philosophical body of work, which belongs to the subject atlas that owns that domain and links back here by same-as proposal, and it excludes the polity or organization a figure served, recorded as a relationship rather than as this category's own grouping.
