Bayezid II was the sultan of the Ottoman Empire from 1481 to 1512. During his reign he consolidated the empire and put down a pro-Safavid rebellion before abdicating the throne to his son Selim I; he also evacuated Sephardi Jews from Spain following the fall of Granada and the Alhambra Decree, resettling them throughout Ottoman lands, especially in Salonica.
