Topa Inca Yupanqui

Also Known As Topa Inga Yupangui (alternate transliteration)
Monarchs and Rulers

Topa Inca Yupanqui (c. 1441-1493) was an Inca emperor, the son and successor of Pachacuti, under whom the Inca Empire, known as Tawantinsuyu, reached its greatest territorial extent. Continuing the expansionist campaigns his father had begun, he conquered the Chimu Empire along the northern coast of present-day Peru, along with large territories extending into what are now Ecuador, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina, using both military conquest and diplomatic incorporation of local rulers. He also continued the extensive administrative reforms of the Inca state, including its network of roads and storage systems, which allowed the empire to govern such a vast and geographically varied territory. By the time of his death the Inca Empire was the largest state in the pre-Columbian Americas.
