John IV Doukas Laskaris was the fourth emperor of the Nicaean Empire, one of the Greek successor states formed after the Fourth Crusade's sack of Constantinople, reigning from 16 August 1258 to 25 December 1261. He was the last emperor of the prominent Laskarid dynasty and the last ruler of Nicaea alone before his successor's reconquest of Constantinople in 1261.
