Treaty of Amiens

Also Known As la paix d'Amiens
Peace Treaties and Territorial Settlements

The Treaty of Amiens, signed in 1802, temporarily ended hostilities between France, the Spanish Empire, and the United Kingdom at the close of the War of the Second Coalition, bringing an end to the French Revolutionary Wars that had begun in the 1790s and briefly delaying the start of the Napoleonic Wars. Under its terms, Britain gave up most of the territory it had captured during the war while keeping the islands of Ceylon and Trinidad, and France agreed to withdraw its forces from Naples and Egypt.
