Bunyoro, also known as Bunyoro-Kitara, is a traditional Bantu kingdom in western Uganda that ranked among the most powerful states in Central and East Africa between the sixteenth and nineteenth centuries. It is ruled by a monarch bearing the title of Omukama, a line of succession that continues into the present day under Solomon Iguru I, the twenty-seventh Omukama of Bunyoro-Kitara.
