The Kingdom of Saloum was a Serer kingdom in what is now Senegal and parts of the Gambia, ruled from its precolonial capital at Kahone. Its history, geography and culture are closely bound to its sister state, the neighboring Kingdom of Sine, and the pair are commonly referred to together as the Sine-Saloum or the Serer Kingdoms. The historical kingdom's monarchy was formally re-established in 2017 as a non-sovereign traditional institution within the modern Senegalese state.
