Nzinga, also known as Njinga Ana de Sousa Mbande, was a southwest African paramount ruler who ruled as queen of the Ambundu Kingdoms of Ndongo, from 1624 to 1663, and Matamba, from 1631 to 1663, located in present-day northern Angola.
