The Taifa of Toledo was an Islamic polity in the center of the Iberian Peninsula during the High Middle Ages, governed by the Dhunnunids, a Hawwara Berber clan who had already controlled the surrounding territories of Cuenca, Huete and Uclas before seizing Toledo itself after the Caliphate of Cordoba fractured in 1018; the realm later expanded further to include the lands of Calatrava. The taifa's independence ended when Christian forces captured Toledo on 6 May 1085.
