The Tu'i Tonga Empire, sometimes also called the Tongan Empire, is a description given to a period of Tongan expansionism and projected hegemony across Oceania that began around 950 CE and reached its peak between roughly 1200 and 1500. It represented the political and cultural influence projected outward from Tonga's ruling Tu'i Tonga dynasty across a wide span of the Pacific islands during this period.
