Francis II was the last Holy Roman Emperor, reigning from 1792 until the empire's dissolution in 1806, after which he continued to rule as Francis I, the first Emperor of Austria, until his death in 1835. He also held the crowns of Germany, Hungary, Croatia and Bohemia, and served as the first president of the German Confederation after its establishment in 1815.
